MGF
Also known as: Mechano Growth Factor, IGF-1Ec, IGF-1 Ec
Mechano Growth Factor is the C-terminal E-domain peptide derived from IGF-1Ec, a splice variant of insulin-like growth factor 1 that is expressed locally and transiently in skeletal muscle in response to mechanical loading or damage. After cleavage from the IGF-1 precursor, the 24-amino-acid MGF E-peptide acts independently of the IGF-1 receptor, helping activate quiescent satellite (muscle stem) cells to support muscle repair and hypertrophy. Synthetic MGF is the unmodified peptide and is degraded rapidly in body fluids; the related PEG-MGF kept in this directory is the pegylated form, in which polyethylene glycol (and typically a stabilizing D-amino-acid substitution) is attached to extend half-life. MGF is not FDA-approved and is a grey-market research compound with no controlled human efficacy data.
